Proof of Address for Japan: Acceptable Documentation

Please note that Stake's compliance team reserves the right to request any documentation at any given time.

The following documents are acceptable as proof of address:

  • Utility bill

    • We accept electricity, gas, or water bills

  • Bank or credit card statement

    • If your bank statement is not accepted, you'll be notified by our support team

  • Council tax, municipality bill, or a government tax letter

  • An official letter from your employer or educational institution

    • Confirming your address, stamped, and signed

  • Tenancy agreement

  • Bank reference letter

    • Must be in English

    • Must contain the following information:

      • Bank contact information

      • Full name and address

      • Date of account issuing and type of account

      • Date the letter was issued

Unacceptable Documents:

  • Utility bill:

    • Mobile phone, Internet, and TV utility bills

  • Purchase receipts

  • Medical bills

Other types of document will not be accepted.

Your documentation must comply to the following criteria:

  • Submit an original photograph or PDF of the documents. Screenshots will not be accepted.

  • All documents must have been issued within the last six months and should be in the Latin international format.

  • Ensure your complete name and address are clearly visible.

  • The name of the issuing entity and the date of issue must be displayed.

  • The entire document must be visible in the image.
