Acceptable documents for Japan FIAT

Please note that the Compliance team reserves the right to request any document they might need.

To use the JPY fiat transaction, you must reside in Japan.

You can use one of the following documents to verify your identity (Level 2 verification):

  • Japanese national passport

  • Japanese driving license (both sides)

Other types of documents cannot be accepted.

Please note that your photos and the document itself need to meet the following requirements:

  • Photos are in high resolution and in color

  • Original photos are uploaded (no screenshots or graphic editing software)

  • Document is easily readable (no flash or blurriness)

  • Document is not physically damaged

  • Document must be lying on a flat surface with all 4 corners inside the frame

  • Document is valid for at least 3 months

  • Document needs to be in Latin international format

  • Documents in digital form will not be accepted, only photographed documents will be accepted

You can use one of the following documents to verify your address (Level 3 verification):

  • Utility bill (electricity, water, gas or rent bill)

  • Bank or credit card statement (in some cases bank statement cannot be used)

  • Municipality bill or government tax letter

  • An official letter from your employer or educational institution confirming your address stamped and signed

  • Tenancy agreement

  • Bank reference letter - A bank reference letter should be just an informative letter with some of your and bank information. This letter should be in English and must meet the following requirements:

Shows full contact of bank

Shows your full name and address

Shows date of account issuing and type of account

Shows date of issuing of the letter

Please note that we do not accept:

  • Mobile phone, internet and TV bills

  • Purchase receipts

  • Medical bills

Your proof of address document must meet the following requirements:

  • Please upload an original photo or a PDF file of the documents, screenshots will not be accepted

  • All documents must be issued within the last 6 months and need to be in Latin international format

  • Shows your full name and address

  • Shows the name of issuing entity and date of issue

  • The whole sheet of paper is visible in the photo

You can use one of the following documents to verify your source of funds (Level 4 verification):

  • Salary (You will need to send us a recent bank statement indicating receipt of your salary or original of your payslip)

  • Sales of shared or other investments / liquidation of investment portfolio / bonds (You will need to send us a bank statement clearly showing receipt of funds and investment company name or interest on bonds received)

  • Sale of property (You will need to send us a copy of the contract of sale and a bank statement showing the proceeds of the sale)

  • Inheritance (You will need to send us a copy of the deceased's will, and a bank statement showing the received funds, along with your current balance)

  • Company sale (You will need to send us a letter detailing company sale signed by a licensed solicitor or regulated accountant on letter-headed paper)

  • A Gift from a family member or close relative (You will need to send us a donor's letter explaining the reason for the gift and the source of their wealth. Also, we will require certified identification documents from donor)

  • Winning the Lottery (You will need to send us a receipt of winnings and documentation e.g. bank statement showing the origin of the funds initially deposited)

  • Divorce settlement (You will need to send us a divorce settlement agreement and bank statement clearly showing receipt of funds)

  • Loan (You will need to send us an executed copy of the loan agreement and a bank statement showing the received funds along with your current balance)

Your source of funds document must meet the following requirements:
